This year's Fishers On Tap winter event has expanded the list of participating breweries to eight central Indiana breweries. You'll recognize your local favorites like Upland and Sun King, but you'll be able to experience brand new breweries like Union Brewing and Daredevil Brewing. Each brewery has their own brewing style and this year, Fishers On Tap attendees will be able to sample cask conditioned ale.
Typically, the beer we drink is filtered, pasteurized and carbonated in different stages of brewing equipment. Cask conditioned beers take their cues from historical methods of brewing. The non-carbonated low alcohol liquid is created, it's stored in a cask where yeast and sugar can work its magic and transform the contents into beer you want to drink. The beers can be funky and cloudy with unique flavors. Even the casks, which are small wooden barrels, have a funky name: firkin.
Union Brewing Company in Carmel, IN has opened its doors and brews cask conditioned ales exclusively. Each and every batch of beer going into a firkin is unique. Brewing only two barrels of beer at a time, Union focuses on quality ingredients and flavors in their small batches. At their brewery, guests can sample a variety of cask conditioned beer styles as well as featured guest taps from around the Midwest.
Union Brewing will be pouring samples of their cask conditioned beers at Fishers On Tap on February 23rd. To learn more or purchase your tickets, click here.
